Joy Young, Ph.D. has more than 25 years of experience in arts, culture, and their allied fields. She is the Vice President of Programs at South Arts, a regional arts organization. She is an active contributor of vision to the organization and leadership of program staff who implement 19 regional and national arts programs and services that advance Southern vitality. Immediately prior to joining South Arts, Joy was the executive director of a local arts agency where she successfully implemented innovative programs and broadened relationships with new networks and stakeholders by capitalizing on the power of public-private partnerships as a strategy to significantly increase public engagement and earned revenue.

Joy enjoys bringing her field experiences from the local, state, regional and national levels to the classroom, especially as they relate to arts administration and leadership practice. She is an adjunct faculty for the Master of Arts in Arts Administration at Winthrop University. As well, she participates as facilitator/faculty for a national leaders of color fellowship program. Her favorite quote is “God respects me when I work, but he loves me when I sing.” -Tagore.
