Episode Description:

Back when ADC Consulting's Alejandra Duque Cifuentes was the executive director of service organization, Dance/NYC, Alejandra appeared on Dance Edit podcast to discuss the work she spearheaded at the organization during the pandemic. Focused on amplifying how artists deserve a dignified workforce and are an integral part to our economy, Dance/NYC embarked on disseminating relief funds to organizations and individual workers, produced multiple digital panel discussions as part of the Artists Are Necessary Workers campaign, hosted weekly advocacy meetings where any member of the arts community can come together and ask questions and share resources, and crafted call-to-action legislative letters to city and state officials. She names the members of the field who galvanized community during the pandemic, and centers the mutual aid ethic that was required to support artists through the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting that above all, we need dance to survive and thrive.
